Community Dance

These are a sample of dances that are great for community events. Any mixture of generations will work and everyone has great fun with lots of laughter. Patricia will walk you through the dance and then continue to prompt the figures while you dance to the lively music.

Community Dances include Square Dances, International Folk Dances, Contra-style Dances, and English Country Dances.

Traditional dance brings people together in community.

Some of the videos are from the Community/Family Dance of May 2013 in Stafford, CT and the last 2 are videos of dances from Transition Bethlehem. The dance labeled “Whole Set 2” is one version of “Sweets of May.” Enjoy!

Patricia and The Reel Thing had a wonderful time providing community dances for other towns in the Transition Town Movement, and we hope to do more in the future.

Transition Bethlehem had a lively St. Patrick’s Day Community Dance on March 17, 2012, which brought out over 100 people who danced together and had a rousing good time! Amazing refreshments were provided by New Morning Market from Woodbury, CT.
